Make renewal part of the schedule.

A certificate can be valid today and still need attention. Choose how far ahead the reminder window begins, then route the change to your team’s existing alert channels.

Statusfield checks the certificate presented by the host. Renew it through your certificate provider or deployment process, then let a later check observe the new expiry date.

A renewal reminder belongs with your other work.

Keep the certificate, its upcoming date and notification rules in one workspace. The people watching availability can also see a renewal approaching.

Monitoring does not issue, install or renew certificates. An expiry check also does not establish that every part of your TLS configuration or application is healthy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Setup, coverage and alerts for ssl expiry monitoring.

What does SSL expiry monitoring check?
It tracks the expiry of the SSL/TLS certificate presented by the monitored host. It helps identify upcoming renewal dates; it is not a complete TLS security audit or application availability test.
Can I choose when to be reminded?
Yes. Configure the warning window before expiry and connect notification rules to your chosen destinations. A reminder-window transition and an expired certificate are distinct states; reminders are not guaranteed daily emails.
Will Statusfield renew the certificate for me?
No. Your team or certificate automation handles renewal and installation. A later successful check can observe the renewed certificate and its new expiry date.
Is this the same as monitoring my domain?
No. An SSL certificate and a domain registration have different expiry dates and renewal processes. Create separate monitors when you want to track both.
How is capacity counted?
Each SSL expiry monitor uses one shared monitor unit. Available notification channels and destination limits depend on your plan.
Why do you recommend Pro for engineering and IT teams?
Pro is our recommendation for small engineering and IT teams coordinating checks, on-call alerts and incident reviews. At $60/month, it combines 40 monitor units, 10 alert destinations and 4 workspace seats with PagerDuty routing, API and MCP access, reports and priority support. Share monitoring responsibility, send relevant changes to chat or on-call, and bring recorded history into your reviews. Reports require at least 30 days of workspace monitoring history. Basic covers a small email-only setup; Starter adds chat and API/MCP access. Team expands capacity to 90 units and 8 seats.
