Report: "Issue with Justworks Termination Dates"

We have worked with Justworks to restore these termination dates. This may trigger offboarding alerts for some customers. Admins are recommended to go into Vanta to confirm offboarding completion for these impacted employees.
We are impacted by a data error from our Justworks integration, starting as early as October 2, 2024 for some customers where Justworks no longer reported the termination date in their API response. Instead, personnel who were offboarded during this time would show as Inactive in Vanta. This status does not trigger offboarding tasks in Vanta.

Last updateThis incident is being marked as resolved with the prior update regarding the changes to the Justworks API.
We have identified the issue, Justworks recently made a change to intentionally exclude non-US based personnel from their API. They are internally discussing reintroducing non-US based personnel to the API, however, there is no timeline provided on if or when they will be reintroduced. Within Vanta, we integrate with Justworks to understand personnel lifecycles. Due to non-US based personnel being previously available via Justworks’ API, HR data was linked to personnel in Vanta. When they were then subsequently missing, or present with partial records in the case of personnel who moved abroad during their employment, Vanta interpreted this to mean their employment had ended. This caused these records to show as ‘Inactive’ on the People page. If you have non-US based personnel and are impacted by this issue, please reach out to support@vanta.com and provide a list of emails associated with their records in Justworks and we'll be on standby to assist with next steps.

Reconnection of the integration will not be possible until this issue is fixed. This is impacting all Vanta customers who utilize the OpenAI integration. A Fix from Rippling has been released and we're seeing a number of the issues be resolved. We'll continue to monitor the situation to confirm the fix was successful.

We've successfully Identified the issue, and are working on a solution. We've determined that Rippling is transiently not returning some metadata we use to filter device scoping in Vanta.
We are currently having trouble getting MDM computers from Rippling. We're investigating the root cause of this issue and should have an update soon.

During the incident, many pages were temporarily unavailable and some requests during this time may have incorrectly logged out the user. This incident has been resolved, and the Vanta Web App and Public API should be functioning as expected.

Last updateAn issue in which Certn Background Check data was no longer syncing to Vanta has now been resolved. It may take up to 24 hours for existing integrated customers to receive missing or new data. Customers should now be able to connect Certn Accounts again. In the event that you are still missing data, or having trouble connecting please reach out to Vanta Support.
We are currently investigating an issue with Certn in which issues with syncing background checks to Vanta started failing, this started occurring around August 12th.

Last updateWe identified an issue impacting customers using the AWS integration that in some cases caused the following tests to provide inaccurate test results since August 6, 2024: - S3 Block Public Access feature enabled (AWS) - S3 server access logs enabled - Logging buckets are versioned (AWS) - Only authorized users can access logging buckets - S3 buckets with ePHI data have access logs enabled - User data in S3 is encrypted at rest (AWS) - Storage buckets versioned - Deleting from a logging bucket requires MFA - Inventory items have descriptions - Inventory items have active owners - Inventory list tracks resources that contain user data This issue has been resolved and you should no longer see incorrect test results moving forward.
