This disruption only affected projects hosted in our US data center. ### Potential Action Required Data sent to the US /import API during this period of time will require resubmission to ensure complete data. * Please ensure those events maintain the same **$insert\_id, time, distinct\_id and event name** so that Mixpanel properly deduplicates any existing data. If you exclusively use Warehouse Connectors and/or the /track API to send data to Mixpanel, no action is required. During this period, Mixpanel was unable to accept certain event data sent through the /track endpoints. Event data sent via our /import endpoint, user profile data (via /engage) and group profile data (via /groups) were unaffected. Following this discovery, a fix was deployed and the /track endpoint resumed normal functionality. This disruption primarily affected projects hosted in our US data center. Projects hosted in EU and India through our Data Residency Programs were unaffected.

On February 4th, from approximately 7:56 am to 2:38 pm UTC, a temporary issue in our system caused a failure to load reports for projects hosted in our EU data center. During this period, all Mixpanel reports failed to load intermittently for these projects. Projects hosted in US and India were not affected. The disruption resulted from a code change that broke the proper queuing of background queries in our system. This overwhelmed our compute cluster, and queries from projects in the EU cluster failed to complete. Once we identified the issue, the change was quickly reverted and reports resumed loading normally. To mitigate future issues, we have added more alerts to our system to catch overload conditions sooner. Additionally, we are adding protection mechanisms to prevent this type of overload from reoccurring. Version v2.51.0 of our Javascript SDK included a change to the default behavior of UTM tracking which disabled the persistence of UTM properties as super properties. This resulted in events only having the UTM information tracked on them if that UTM information was present on the URL the event was triggered from unless the initialization option {stop_utm_persistence: false} was set. We've reverted this change so that UTM information is persisted as a super property in v2.52.0 which was released 6/7/2024 12PM PT. We recommend the {stop_utm_persistence: true} initialization option if you use multi-touch attribution models in Mixpanel. Please refer to our attribution documentation (https://docs.mixpanel.com/docs/features/attribution) for how to properly attribute data sent in during this time or reach out to our support team with further questions.
