Last updateIncident Timeframe: 11:34 – 11:49 UTC+2 On May 15, our servers experienced unexpected downtime for approximately 15 minutes due to a misconfiguration in our Continuous Deployment setup. The issue was detected at 11:34 UTC+2 and fully resolved by 11:49 UTC+2. During this time, services were unavailable for all users. Any attempts to access the application or APIs would have resulted in errors. Root Cause A recent change in our CD pipeline introduced a misconfiguration that prevented servers from starting correctly after a deployment. This error was not caught during the build phase but manifested during runtime. Preventative Measures To avoid similar incidents in the future, we are taking the following actions: Additional validation checks are being added to our CD pipeline. Improving automated deployment rollback mechanisms. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this caused and appreciate your patience as we work to make our systems more resilient.

Last updateThe issue some customers experienced with uploading and hosting YouTube videos in kahoots is now temporarily resolved. The fix involves a different player that might display commercial content - we are working on reverting back to the original player to secure an ad-free experience. The feature for using Vimeo-videos is not impacted. All services are fully operational.
Some customers may experience an error 2 message when uploading or hosting games with YouTube videos. A work-around to access or adding videos to a kahoot would be to use the Kahoot! mobile app or by uploading Vimeo videos. Our team is currently working on a fix. Last updateWhat We’re Doing to Prevent This: We’ve implemented additional checks in our maintenance process to ensure that this type of issue doesn’t happen again. We’ve also enhanced our alerting mechanisms to catch such issues sooner. In addition, we’ve rolled out a new feature that allows our CSMs to directly alert and send a page to our on-call engineers for faster response times in the event of any future incidents. Impact: The service instability affected our systems intermittently during Saturday and part of Sunday. We deeply regret the inconvenience caused and are taking steps to improve our processes to avoid similar issues going forward. Conclusion: We’re committed to providing reliable service, and we appreciate your understanding as we work to strengthen our systems and improve incident response times.
Over the weekend, our service experienced instability starting Saturday and continuing into part of Sunday. This was due to an issue with one of our load balancers, which plays a key role in managing traffic to our systems. What Happened: While performing maintenance on our load balancers, one of them was experiencing issues. This meant it wasn’t working as expected, which caused instability in our service. The issue was identified and brought to our attention by our Customer Success Managers (CSMs) on Sunday. Resolution: Once we were alerted, our team promptly investigated and found the root cause. By 1:20 PM on Sunday, we had fixed the issue and restored the service to normal.

The incident was spotted immediately and the servers were recovered shortly. Last update**Incident summary:** some api response times were slower than normal **Description**: DDOS attack started at 9:00 CET and affected our load balancing infrastructure. **Resolution:** After fencing certain subnets and increasing our capacity, all systems reporting as operational

Last update**Incident summary:** One of the transactions in the DB put a lock on one of the main tables. **Description**: Inside the process of publishing a message one of the transactions hanged inside our DB server. Transaction showed resistance towards being killed manually or with any other attempts **Resolution:** DB’s writer instance was put into reboot to force clean running DB threads. Fix has been implemented for message dispatches to prevent this happening in the future
The service is working as normal now and we will monitor the service for a post mortem.
